Shield:
On the shield you can see two cartouches with the attributes of our holders, on the cartouche on the left the crown of thorns and the cane, attributes of the Holy Christ of Humility and Patience, on the cartouche on the right, the anagram of the Bird Mary alluding to Our Lady of Tears. In its central axis we see the Franciscan Tau, in reference to the Franciscan spirit of our brotherhood that has our Seraphic Father San Francisco as its holder, in its lower part there are also three lilies alluding to the purity of Mary, the all-full of Grace, holder of our canonical seat. The shield is bordered by a Palm and an Olive Branch, which appear adorned with a phylactery where the name of the Brotherhood and its year of foundation appear. All this topped by the Royal Crown in reference to Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth.
Dress:
It is traditional for this Brotherhood to wear the Franciscan habit, brown colored Vesta, mask and cinglo made in ivory. A rosary of complete austerity is placed on the cingulum, ending the ends of the cord with the three Franciscan knots. Complete with black socks and shoes, white gloves, and Brotherhood medal. This penitential character that the brotherhood adopts allows the members of its ranks to go barefoot throughout the penance season.
History:
The Penitential Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of Humility and Patience was founded in March 1996, going out to procession for the first time on Holy Monday 1997.
The founding idea arose spontaneously after Holy Week of the previous year, in the surroundings of a small group of people from other Alicante brotherhoods and merchants from the surroundings of the Ntra. Sra. De Gracia parish, led by Mr. José Ramón Vera Illán.
Since the beginning in 1997, the main image is that of the Holy Christ of Humility and Patience, which will be carried out in a procession in the Martinez Brothers workshop in Redován. This step underwent various modifications made by the Brotherhood's priosity team. It was in 2010 when the prioste and foreman of the pass, Mr. Javier Calero, made an interior stretcher, thus transforming the passage from varal to costal.
At the end of Holy Week 2010, a new step for Christ was commissioned in the Carpentry and Religious Carving workshops of Guillena (Seville).
In 2004 and with the aim of covering the most Marian vocations, the sculptor Hernández Navarro carved the image of Our Lady of the Tears, with the physiognomy of a mature woman dressed in Hebrew. The step used until 2010 was carried out by Domingo García Chahuan in his workshop in Albatera. In 2011 the passage was transformed in order to be carried by sack, and in 2012 Ntra. Sra. De las Lágrimas procession for the first time under a canopy passage made entirely of wood.
